About Me

My Photo
I have a little garden in Rozelle about 5km from the centre of Sydney. I love to grow as much organic food as I can in a tiny space. The garden calms and excites me, and is a wonderful little green space in a big city. This blog is a record plotting the changes over seasons and years.

Soaking Saturday

I started my Saturday in a blissful way.  A big ocean swim at Coogee with a couple of swimming buddies.  The water was clear, 19 degrees and there were loads of fish.  I had set the rest of the day aside to garden but as I neared home, the rain started.  And it didn't stop for the rest of the day.  So I put on my outdoor gear (the stuff I wear doing hikes/bushwalks) and gardened in the pouring rain.  It was amazing.  Once I accepted that I was going to get wet and dirty, it was really very beautiful.  I kept inviting to kids to join me, but they seemed happy staying dry playing Lego.  Saturday was topped off by a great night out at our school fundraiser (dressed as a Bollywood star).
New path beside the pond (can you see the pond hidden under the water plants?)
This wasn't one of the projects yesterday, I just love the colour of the chillies
Planted iceberg lettuce, and spring onions (back)
Lots of cutting back (mainly Vietnamese mint and other weeds)

Re-planted Finn's succulent garden and re-instated Dr Camel as President.  I have been inspired by Jamie at Garden Amateur to have a succulent garden with personalities inside.  You can read about the legendary Mrs Lithops here and here.
Planted Nicola Potatoes in this grow-bag (and the rest in the garden bed).

You are so industrious! I have let the rain excuse me from chores today!

Don't let me fool you! Trust me I'm really not that industrious...it was more that I found it fun.
