I have been thinking about getting a dehydrator for a while. I don't have loads of excess fruit and veggies from my tiny garden, so was thinking of a smallish one.
The thing that has brought this to the forefront of my mind is that we are planning a 3 day/3 night bushwalk in Tasmania in January (with our 7 & 10 year old boys). We need to pack really lightly, as we are carrying bedding, tents, food and water. Camping websites rave about dehydrators so that you can have a much greater variety of dried fruit, veg and meat than you can buy in the shops (and at a fraction of the cost).
That said, I am a bit tentative, as it may end up being used as much as the ice-cream maker. And the breadmaker (now gone). And the milkshake maker. And the slurpee machine. I'd love to hear your thoughts!
